Newsletter – 2024

Hello Friends and Family,

It’s a new year, and I am very behind on our 2023 blogs.  I will try to buckle down, but there is so much to see and do!

My 2024 goals are to catch up, stay current, and try new things. One of the YouTubers we watch is She to Me.  Debbie and John are a little older than Mike and me.  In her last vlog, she said that people over 60 become bored. To avoid that, they should try new things.

I think Mike and I have “try new things” covered, but just in case, we are adding two more.  One we already started.  This ‘new thing’ has lately been diverting our journey in a different direction and distracting us.  (It is one of the reasons I am so behind on this blog business.)  We will tell you about it later.

The other thing is that I will practice linking to other websites on our blog posts, including Instagram photos, so you can keep up with us on time instead of waiting for my blog posts.

One thing I will change is the titles of the posts. The 2023 posts will continue to be numbered, but the 2024 posts’ titles will have only the names of the places.  They will be numbered in the body of the post.

A Change in our Journeying Family – Update on Pets

You will see a new face in our traveling family and miss an old one.

Last July, we lost dear little Molly. I will discuss it when I write our Green River, Wyoming post.  We knew her time on Earth with us was ending, but she enjoyed her last few months traveling with us.  She was a grumpy old lady, preferring to associate only one human at a time, and it had to be a male. But we loved her anyway.  For years, it was our son, Matt, and then Mike was her latest main squeeze.  Nobody else had better touch her, or else she would nip at you.  Lucy, Sarj, and Snoopy left her alone.

Then, in September, our granddaughter, Maddi, was moving to Nebraska, but she couldn’t take her sweet cat, Chad. Her heart was breaking to think of surrendering him to an animal shelter.  He’s a kind, gentle, and shy cat, so we took him on our travels.

Chad doesn’t like traveling much.  He prefers to lay around inside the camper.  He cries when we transfer him from the camper to the van and then proceeds to hide.  Even though he is almost as big as Snoopy, our Cocker Spaniel, Chad is a coward.  Lucy bullies him around.

We wish all of you a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.  Remember, challenge yourself to try new things no matter how old or young you are!
